The Thriving Green Space Team at The City of Edinburgh Council is pleased to invite you to a drop-in event to share your thoughts on the redevelopment of Regent Road Bowling Green and Park.

Date: Saturday 22nd June

Time: 10:30 am – 1:00 pm

Location: Regent Road Bowling Green

What3words location: ///adopt.tags.serve

Join us from 10:30am to engage directly with our team members and local stakeholders in discussions about the future use of Regent Road Bowling Green and Park.

This event is made possible through collaboration with the Abbeyhill Colony of Artists, Abbeyhill Action, and Leith Community Growers. Please RSVP with your participation and the number of people attending with you.

There's a useful website also at:

which covers green spaces in Edinburgh.

At the drop-in event, we will:

Discuss the site's history, challenges, and opportunities

Engage in creative thinking for its future use and development

Share unique insights and recommendations

Please note:

Appropriate footwear is recommended due to the uneven surface of the bowling green site, including access and egress routes.

The site does not have facilities such as toilets, water, resting areas, or parking space. Plan your journey accordingly and consider using public transport or biking if possible.

Tea/Coffee and biscuits provided.

If you require information about accessing the site, including limited parking for disabled access, please contact Marco Galli, Green Space Project Development Officer, marco.galli@edinburgh.gov.uk

Background:

The Regent Community Bowling Club, with a lease history dating back to 1996, has recently transferred stewardship back to the Parks Department due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This shift has prompted renewed discussions and initiatives aimed at revitalising the site for the benefit of the local community.

Community groups such as Colony of Artists, Abbeyhill Action, and Leith Community Growers have expressed interest in keeping the Bowling Green part of the local community.

In light of this, we are reaching out to you as a key stakeholder with a vested interest in the future of this space. Your input and expertise are invaluable as we explore potential uses, assess strengths and weaknesses, and envision how the site can integrate seamlessly with the wider park environment.

We look forward to your active involvement in shaping the future of Regent Road Bowling Green and Park.

Kind regards,

Marco Galli
